AFRUCA (Africans Unite against Child Abuse) is a national charity promoting the rights and welfare of African children in the UK.

This position will enable us respond adequately to the growing demand from various agencies for specialist cultural and country specific input into child protection case assessments involving African children and families. The post holder will work with others to manage AFRUCA’s capacity to conduct child protection assessments and support families going through different stages of the child protection system.

This post will be ideal for a recent graduate in Social Work from a UK university. They must be able to provide evidence of registration with HCPC. They must have excellent skills in identifying, prioritising and analysing risk of harm to children with strong report-writing skills. They must be able to adapt to working in a non-statutory, small organisational setting. They must have a strong, specialist knowledge and understanding of African cultural practices that impact on children. This post will involve some travel between our two offices in London and Manchester. Ability to speak at least one African language is an advantage.
