23 May 2013 | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AFRUCA – Africans Unite Against Child Abuse condemns the act of terrorism in Woolwich on the 22nd of May. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.
Even though AFRUCA is not a Nigerian organisation, many of our users – children, families and young people – are of Nigerian origin and we do have ongoing work in Nigeria itself.
AFRUCA totally condemns this act of terror. “From our work, we do know most Nigerians in the UK are hard-working and law abiding citizens. We can assert that this terrible act is neither accepted nor acceptable to Nigerians in this country. This act of violence cannot be seen as representative of Nigerians in the UK”, said Debbie Ariyo OBE, AFRUCA Founder and Executive Director.
We call for calm at this difficult time and hope that the full wrath of the law will fall on those who perpetrated this terrible act.
