“Bringing Up Our Children: Re-looking Physical Punishment and Domestic Violence”

The death of Victoria Climbié at the hands of her aunt has raised a lot of questions about how children are brought up in African homes in the UK. In particular, it has put the concept of discipline under the spotlight and generated debate about where we draw the line between discipline and child abuse. This important meeting will discuss the impact of domestic violence on our children and re-examine the concept of “good discipline”.Date: Wednesday 7 May 2003
